Flamingo... Flora... Tropical fruits... Greens... SUMMER!!!!
Whenever we saw flamingo on fabric... We can't help but keep thinking about Summer... the best season of all (at least for us, it is... >.<)...
So we decided to make some more outfits with summer vibes for our dolls~ For now, we choose to give it a go with romper~
We just love how the sun shines on those romper... >.<
So what are we waiting for? Let's go and see how it was made~
Things you'll need for this project :
- Fabric of your choice
- Needle & thread
- Scissors
- Water soluble pen
- Sewing machine (highly recommended)
- Velcro tape
- Sewing pin
- Ribbon
- Scrap paper and pencil for pattern
Let's see how we do it... ^.^
1. First of all, choose your model... ^.^
Lay your model on a piece of scrap paper, then draw the basic outline of the body shape...
2. Roughly draw the pattern of the romper based on the outline we get back then~
After that, cut it out leaving some spaces on the side... I divided it into 3 parts : top, waist & shorts...
Lay the pattern on our model to see if it's fit... Trim off the excess when you get the right measurement...
3. Next, transfer the pattern onto fabric...
* Remember to leave gaps in between for allowances... *
4. Cut them out...
* Don't forget to leave allowances on each edges... *
5. Pin the waist part together, also the shorts for the beginning...
Before working on it, layout everything like this to make sure there is no missing piece~ ^.<
pin the front and back pieces of the waist part together... (blue line)
pin front and back pieces for both side of the shorts part, outer seam... (red line)
6. Sew them together...
7. Add on ribbon for decoration for the cuff of the shorts...
So pin the edges along with the ribbon at the same time... first pin the beginning of the ribbon and twist to create some waves for extra details...
Carefully sew everything together after you done creating the pattern... If you think this is very time consuming, you can leave it as it was... ^.^
8. Time to sew the top part ... ^.<
Hem the top edge of the top...
Then, for the bottom edge, make nodges with width similar to the top edge, fold in and hem...
9. Design for the top...
With a piece of ribbon, make a bow like the picture shown below...
10. Attach the top & waist part together...
pin the waist & top part like the picture shown, make sure they are in the right position before secure with stitches...
Set aside after this...
11. Next, sew the inner seam of the shorts~
Take out the shorts and sew the inner seam, make sure that there are enough spaces for the rise...
12. Sew the front and back rise...
Attach the left and right side by joining the front rise first... Pinning them right side to right side and check to prevent any misplacement before sewing together...
Then, continue by sewing only half way of the back rise...
13. Attach the top and bottom parts together...
Pinning the top and bottom parts right side to right side, and sew them together~
This is what it should look like by this stage~
14. Sew on velcro tape on the back~
15. At last, attach ribbon on the top as a support...
Complete the design by adding ribbons for the top also as a support to secure the garment on place... Trim off the excess after sewing everything in place...
And you're DONE~~~ ^.^
