This cake is made with pink polymer clay and filled with white deco gel and some berry liked clay, topped with deco gel and a delicate sakura...
Hey, guys. Follow these simple steps and you will get this pretty little sakura cake... Are you ready?!! Oh I'm so exciting!!!
Do you like a pinkish cake with berry and fresh cream filling and top with a pickled sakura?
It was Japanese Sakura Festival when I first saw this picture... and the second moment I stared at it, I decided to make one for my doll~ I think my doll deserve to celebrate Sakura Festival with this cake even if they were not in Japan...XD
Well, let's see how I made it...
What I use for this lovely project is~
- FIMO polymer clay
- FIMO liquid deco gel
- Acrylic Paint
- Blade
- Dotting/Needle tool
- Toothbrush
- Aluminium foil
1. Well, first of all, mix these three colors together and basically it's the same color like the one I use for the sakura mochi.
2. And there is the base for the cake. Roll out a flat layer for the cake, I made it about 2~3mm thick but its totally up to you. But a friendly advise is try not to make it too thick or your finish work may look a little...well...not too pretty...
3. After that, cut the cake with a flower shaped cookie cutter. But if you can't find one, any shape will just work as well. ^.^
4. Then, add some texture using dotting & needle tool and toothbrush. Don't forget to add texture to the side of the cake... ^.<
5. Using the same pink polymer clay, I took only a little piece to make the sakura on top. First, roll out a tiny ball.
6. Add texture and flatten a bit using aluminium foil, then use a needle tool to sculpt the pattern of petals.
7. Mix brown and white polymer clay for the stem of the sakura. Roll out a thin snake for the stem and a tiny ball for the sakura leaf. I simply use aluminium foil to add some texture to the leaf.
8. Now, gently attach the stem and leaf to the sakura.
9. Mix these colors together for the berry filling.
7. When you have this, flatten out and cut into tiny cubes.
8. Prebake everything you have made until now. Set aside.
9. Now add some white acrylic paint on the cake surface to give it a sugar powder topped look. I only paint 1 piece as it only needed for the top piece.
10. Take out some white polymer clay and put into an icing tip. Gently squeeze it out so it have the icing look.
11. Mix Fimo deco gel with white polymer clay to create the cream texture.
12. Time to assemble our cake!!! First apply a bit of deco gel mixture on the top of the cake and attach the icing piece on it. Then apply some deco gel mixture on the icing piece and attach the sakura on it.
13. Take out the bottom cake piece and apply a generous amount of deco gel mixture on it. Then attach it with the top cake piece.
14. At last, pick up the tiny red cubes and attach on the cream between the cakes.
15. When you satisfied with the look of your work, bake it again and seal it with matte glaze.
And you're DONE!!!
